Review: My Dark Beast

My Dark Beast My Dark Beast by Olivia Wildenstein
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

She is a looooongg book, but so so good. My Dark Beast is a Hades/Persephone retelling, with a mix of Sleeping Beauty (roles reversed), but also different fairytale easter eggs mixed in. Soooo, literally all of my favorite things wrapped up into one thick book.

This book mainly focuses on Calanthe Bloom. A woman taking care of her mother and running her family's floral shop. While working on a floral delivery, she meets Tarian Hadez. Hades, as she calls him, is one of the most powerful men in the city. After fate brings them together in an unusual way, it also pulls them apart.

After a car crash leaves Tarian in a dream like sleep, Calanthe's only way of speaking to him is through shared dreams.

This book was filled with so much detail. It felt like I too was dreaming at times. With how much back story we got with each character, I am excited to see how the next book will unfold!
